Baseball Recap: Lamar Has No Trouble Against Alamosa

Lamar was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last game, but they sure didn't let that happen against Alamosa on Friday. The Thunder blew past the Mean Moose 14-3. The result was nothing new for the Thunder, who have now won three matches by 11 runs or more so far this season.

Lamar got a massive performance out of Alex Aguilar, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Aguilar has become a key player for the Thunder: the team is 5-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 1-2 otherwise. Cael Buxton also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Aguilar wasn't the only one making solid contact: Lamar kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 12 hits in three consecutive contests.

Lamar is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.0 runs over those games. As for Alamosa, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-7.

Lamar didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, an 18-14 win against La Junta on the 8th. As for Alamosa, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 7-1 victory against Monte Vista on the 8th.
