Softball Game Preview: Orangeburg Prep Indians vs. Thomas Sumter Academy Generals

Orangeburg Prep is preparing for their first region matchup of the season on Monday. They will look to defend their home field against the Thomas Sumter Academy Generals at 6:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Orangeburg Prep barely beat Colleton Prep Academy the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Orangeburg Prep never let Colleton Prep Academy get on the board and left with a 15-0 win on Tuesday. That 15 run margin sets a new team best for the Indians this season.

At the plate, Prestan Schurlknight was incredible, firing off two home runs, three runs, and four RBI while going 3-for-3. Another player making a difference was HannaH LambrecHt, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4.

Orangeburg Prep lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Thomas Sumter Academy can bid farewell to their four-game losing streak thanks to their game on Monday. They skirted past Lee Academy 11-10. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Generals have posted since April 29, 2024.

The win made it two in a row for Orangeburg Prep and bumps their season record up to 3-1. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 6 runs in those games. As for Thomas Sumter Academy, their win bumped their record up to 2-6.
