Basketball Recap: Eastern Takes a Loss

Eastern was the 64-57 winner over Sheridan when they last played one another back in December of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Eastern Comets were dealt an 83-49 loss at the hands of the Sheridan Blackhawks on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Comets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 277th, while the Blackhawks are ranked 112th).

Sheridan's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Caleb Wright, who went 9 for 12 on his way to 27 points and six assists. Wright has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Trey Page was another key player, going 9 of 19 on his way to 25 points.

This is the second loss in a row for Eastern and nudges their season record down to 2-3. As for Sheridan, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 5-1.

Eastern wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 67-42 win against Cowan on the 21st. As for Sheridan, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 53-43 victory against Frankfort on the 21st.
