Football Game Preview: Cherry Creek Bruins vs. Arapahoe Warriors

Cherry Creek is 8-1 against Arapahoe since September of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Bruins will head out on the road to face off against the Warriors at 7:00 p.m. Cherry Creek is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.

Cherry Creek is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Colorado's top teams: Cherokee Trail, who was ranked 19th at the time (Cherry Creek was ranked first). The Bruins claimed a resounding 49-12 win over the Cougars. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 42-6.

Brady Vodicka produced another solid effort throwing for 270 yards and five touchdowns while completing 82.4% of his passes, and also rushing for 45 yards. He has been hot recently, having posted three or more passing touchdowns the last four times he's played. Cherry Creek's leading receiver Maxwell Lovett was Vodicka's top target yet again, picking up 144 receiving yards and one score.

Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Arapahoe beat Grandview 21-17 on Friday. The victory continues a trend for the Warriors in their matchups with the Wolves: they've now won four in a row.

Arapahoe's win came from a few key players Cherry Creek will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Theo Lee, who threw for 110 yards and a pair of TDs. What's more, he racked up 118.3 passer rating, the most he's had since back in October of 2024. Marcello Jaramillo also helped with two touchdowns in total.

Arapahoe was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 203 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

The win got Arapahoe back to even at 3-3. As for Cherry Creek, their record now sits at 6-0.

Everything came up roses for Cherry Creek against Arapahoe in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, as the team secured a 41-7 victory. In that contest, the Bruins amassed a halftime lead of 27-7, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Thursday.
