Softball Recap: Fort Bend Hightower's Win on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Four

Fort Bend Hightower entered their tilt with Fort Bend Austin on Friday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They put the hurt on the Bulldogs with a sharp 21-5 win. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 9-5 back in March.

Baylee Bonner was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with six RBI and three runs. Those six RBI gave her a new career-high. Kourtney Jones-Caldwell was another key player, scoring four runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.

Bonner wasn't the only one making solid contact: Fort Bend Hightower kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Fort Bend Austin only managed nine hits.

Fort Bend Hightower's record is now 17-3-2. As for Fort Bend Austin, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-12 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Fort Bend Hightower will take on Ridge Point at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Panthers' pitching crew has only allowed 2.8 runs per game this season, so the Hurricanes' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Fort Bend Austin, they will challenge Fort Bend Bush at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bulldogs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Broncos have averaged an impressive 8.2 runs per game this season.
