Softball Recap: Northland Lutheran Comes Up Short

Northland Lutheran entered their contest against Marion on Thursday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Wildcats fell just short of the Mustangs by a score of 6-5. The Wildcats were not able to make up for their loss to the Mustangs from their previous meeting back in May of 2024.

Sarah Gustafson was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-5 with two stolen bases and two runs. Gustafson is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least one every time she's taken the field this season. Another player making a difference was Paige Kunkel, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI.

Northland Lutheran's defeat dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Marion, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Northland Lutheran will face off against Tigerton at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Marion, they will venture away from home to take on Port Edwards at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
