Baseball Game Preview: Golden Valley Grizzlies vs. Castaic Coyotes

Golden Valley hasn't had much luck against Castaic recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Golden Valley Grizzlies will look to defend their home field against the Castaic Coyotes at 3:30 p.m. Golden Valley has given up an average of 6.8 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.

Wednesday just wasn't the day for Golden Valley's offense. They lost 19-0 to Castaic on Wednesday.

For Castaic's part, Orion Gonzalez made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 11 over seven innings pitched. Gonzalez has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing Two bases. while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in stolen bases.

In other batting news, Michael Fava was excellent, scoring a run while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (two). Zach Press was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-2.

Castaic hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Golden Valley struck out 11 times.

Castaic pushed their record up to 8-4 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.8 runs over those games. As for Golden Valley, they now have a losing record of 4-5.
