Baseball Recap: Immaculata-La Salle Finds Home Field Redemption Against Palmetto

Immaculata-La Salle's found some homefield redemption this week after a overtime loss to Miami Christian on Thursday. The Immaculata-La Salle Royal Lions won by a run and slipped past the Palmetto Panthers 5-4.

Immaculata-La Salle got a great performance from Derrick Paz as he struck out seven batters over 5.2 innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off eight hits. Those seven strikeouts gave Paz a new career-high.

At the plate, Immaculata-La Salle's win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Hector Sosa, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Immaculata-La Salle is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.9 runs on average over those games. Palmetto dropped their record down to 3-12 with the defeat, which was their ninth straight on the road.

Looking ahead, Immaculata-La Salle will square off against Somerset Academy (Silver Palms) at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Palmetto, they will take on Highland at 2:15 p.m. on Monday.
