The Victoria West Warriors will take on the Lamar Consolidated Mustangs at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are strolling into their matches after big wins in their previous games.
Victoria West is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They never let Fort Bend Marshall get on the board and left with a 26-0 victory on Friday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.
Meanwhile, Lamar Consolidated waltzed into their game on Friday with 11 straight wins... but they left with 12. Everything went their way against the Titans as they made off with a 19-2 victory. The result was nothing new for the Mustangs, who have now won 11 contests by seven runs or more so far this season.
Kailey Quinn was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over four innings while giving up just two earned runs off one hit. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.1 strikeouts per game. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Aubree Jones, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and four RBI. She is on a roll when it comes to home runs, as she's now launched at least one in each of the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Sophia Lundstrom, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances.
Lamar Consolidated was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .548. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .300 or higher in 13 consecutive matchups.
Lamar Consolidated pushed their record up to 12-2 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.8 runs over those games. As for Victoria West, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-10.
