Softball Recap: River Valley Continues Road Dominance on Wednesday

On Wednesday River Valley's undefeated season almost came to an end. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 5-4 W against the Purchase Line Red Dragons. That's more bragging rights for the Panthers, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Sara Bollinger spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on eight hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, Maddie Twinchek was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashley Pynos, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run.

River Valley's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-0. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.8 runs over those games. As for Purchase Line, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-4.

River Valley will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Red Dragons: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
