Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Darla Lee and Jada Vanderhorst Lead Corinth Holders to Victory

A well-balanced attack led Corinth Holders over Garner in every quarter on their way to victory on Saturday. The Pirates took down the Trojans 57-40. The victory continues a trend for the Pirates in their matchups with the Trojans: they've now won five in a row.

Corinth Holders was led to victory by Jada Vanderhorst and Darla Lee. Vanderhorst dropped a double-double with 12 points and 15 rebounds, while Lee posted 19 points and six boards. Vanderhorst has been hot, having posted eight or more boards the last eight times she's played. Lauren Sizemore was another key player, putting up five points in addition to nine rebounds and five steals.

Corinth Holders was working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Garner only posted five.

Despite the loss, Garner had strong showings from Trinity Dunn, who almost dropped a double-double with ten points and nine boards, and Aniyah Williams, who earned nine points and six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Sumayah Jones, who put up 12 points and six boards.

Corinth Holders' win bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Garner, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.

Corinth Holders has already played their next contest, a 37-36 victory against Franklinton on the 25th. As for Garner, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 62-13 loss against Apex on the 25th.
