Preview: Santaluces Chiefs vs. Park Vista Cobras
Santaluces has been on the road for five straight, but on Wednesday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Park Vista Cobras at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Santaluces and Park Vista are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads.
Last Monday, Santaluces came up short against Wellington and fell 35-23.
Despite the defeat, Santaluces had strong showings from Makaylah Wayde, who scored 11 points along with nine rebounds and five steals, and Lyiah Gaitor, who scored eight points along with ten rebounds and three blocks. Wayde scored a full 47.8% of Santaluces' points, the seventh time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Meanwhile, Park Vista had to endure a three-game losing streak dating back to last season, but that streak is no more. They walked away with a 49-40 victory over Cardinal Newman on Monday. The win was just what Park Vista needed coming off of a 67-34 defeat in their prior match.
Santaluces now has a losing record at 3-4. As for Park Vista, the win got them back to even at 1-1.
Everything came up roses for Santaluces against Park Vista in their previous meeting back in January of 2022 as the team secured a 67-22 victory. With Santaluces ahead 45-14 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
