Carlson extended their losing streak to three on Saturday, dropping their season record down to 15-12 in the process. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost an 11-10 heartbreaker at the hands of the Portage Northern Huskies. Even if the Marauders couldn't come away with the victory, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their hitters, which had struggled int the games prior.
Noah Borowski put in work no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
In other batting news, Kyle Salisbury and Joe Borowski did some serious damage despite the final result: Salisbury got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases, two RBI, and one run, while Joe went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two doubles. Matthew MacBride was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and three runs.
As for Portage Northern, their win bumped their record up to 8-15-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory they have posted since May 29, 2024.
On Portage Northern's side, they secured the win behind a pair of hitters. One of them was Seth Bartlam, who went 1-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Those three RBI gave Bartlam a new career-high.
Looking ahead, Carlson will head out on the road to challenge Trenton at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Portage Northern, they will head out to take on Lincoln at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
