Baseball Recap: Westview Wildcats vs. Aloha Warriors
Westview extended their losing streak to three on Friday, dropping their season record down to 5-6 in the process. They fell 10-6 to the Aloha Warriors. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Warriors this season, with their most recent defeat being a 3-0 loss on Wednesday.
As for Aloha, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 7-6. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.7 runs over those games.
For Aloha's part, David Hoskins made a splash while hitting and pitching. He pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Aloha is undefeated when Hoskins allows one or fewer earned runs, but 4-6 otherwise. Hoskins was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Joaquin Luna was excellent, going 1-for-4 with four RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Saul Corpus, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Westview will face off against McNary at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Celtics have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.07 runs per game on average), something the Wildcats will no doubt try to take advantage of.
