Baseball Recap: Lecanto Sets Scoring Season-High Against Nature Coast Tech

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lecanto). They put the hurt on the Nature Coast Tech Sharks with a sharp 13-2 victory on Friday. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Panthers as it put an end to their seven-game losing streak.

The team relied heavily on Trey Hendrickson, who scored two runs while going 2-for-2. He is becoming a predictor of Lecanto's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 2-1 (and 3-14 when he doesn't). Luke Pitzer also deserves some recognition as he scored his first runs of the season.

Hendrickson wasn't the only one making solid contact: Lecanto kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in April of 2024.

Lecanto's record now sits at 5-15. As for Nature Coast Tech, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 14-7.

Looking ahead, Lecanto will head out on the road to face off against The Villages Charter at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The Buffalo will roll in looking for their eighth straight victory, something the Panthers surely won't give up without a fight. As for Nature Coast Tech, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Hernando at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
