Volleyball Recap: St. Edward Snags Seventh Victory in Last Nine Games

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against St. Ignatius, St. Edward was happy to have turned things around on Wednesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 win over the Strongsville Mustangs. That's more bragging rights for the Eagles, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

St. Edward wouldn't go down easily and took Strongsville into a fifth set where they got it done with a seven-point win. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-18, 25-11, 22-25, 22-25, 15-8.

Davion Tan-Nguyen had a dynamite game, getting 21 digs and four aces. Those four aces gave him a new career-high. Siddeeq Sabur also deserves some recognition as he had his first digs of the season.

They weren't the only good server: St. Edward was lethal from the service line and finished the game with ten aces. They are a perfect 6-0 when they serve at least ten aces.

St. Edward is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season. As for Strongsville, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-6 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. St. Edward is set to challenge their familiar foe Nordonia at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Strongsville will take on rival Brunswick at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
