Baseball Recap: Springfield Takes a Loss

Springfield lost against Hammond back in February, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Springfield Bulldogs fell just short of the Hammond Tornadoes by a score of 4-3. The Bulldogs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Colt Lirette made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI and one stolen base. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in RBI. Another player making a difference was Will Sanders, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-4.

Springfield now has a losing record of 8-9. As for Hammond, their win ended a seven-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-15.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Springfield will welcome Doyle at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Doyle will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Springfield surely won't give up without a fight. As for Hammond, they will be playing at home against St. Paul's at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. This will be St. Paul's first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
