Baseball Game Preview: Manchester Red Hawks vs. Somers Spartans

Manchester has won three straight games at home, while Somers has won three straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Tuesday. The Red Hawks will welcome the Spartans at 3:45 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Manchester took a six-run loss the last time they faced off against RHAM, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Red Hawks narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Raptors 5-4.

Wynnton Stefanovicz looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched.

At the plate, Sean Hickey was incredible, going 1-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high.

Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last game, Somers made sure to put some runs up on the board against Granby Memorial on Monday. The Spartans walked away with an 11-7 win over the Bears.

Will Accorsi and Andrew Czerwinski did most of the damage at the plate: Accorsi got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI, while Czerwinski got on base in all four of his plate appearances with five stolen bases and four runs. Jack Olearcek was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run.

Somers has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Manchester, their win bumped their record up to 8-11.
