Basketball Recap: Verona Takes a Loss

Verona was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 15th straight defeat. They took a blow against the New Heights Christian Academy Cougars, falling 77-29. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wildcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 93-29 back in December of 2024.

New Heights Christian Academy was led to victory by Logan Decker and Brodrick Burns. Decker made all 8 shots he took for 16 points and seven boards, while Burns went 7 for 12 on his way to 16 points. Another player making a difference was Jadon Smith, who went 6 of 13 en route to 13 points.

Verona's loss dropped their record down to 1-17. As for New Heights Christian Academy, the victory was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-4.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Verona will face off against Spokane at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for New Heights Christian Academy, they will square off against Wheaton at 8:45 p.m. on Friday.
