Basketball Game Preview: Hardaway Hawks vs. Spencer Greenwave

Hardaway is 0-10 against Spencer since December of 2016 but things could change on Saturday. The Hardaway Hawks will be playing in front of their home fans against the Spencer Greenwave at 4:15 p.m.

Hardaway is headed into Saturday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their eighth straight game on Thursday. They took a hard 60-42 fall against Kendrick. While the Hawks didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Cherokees 14-4 in the first quarter.

Despite their defeat, Hardaway saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. A'Nazhe Purnell, who posted seven points, was perhaps the best of all.

Meanwhile, Spencer had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 14.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They blew past the Red Jackets 81-54. The Greenwave have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight contests by 20 points or more this season.

Spencer pushed their record up to 17-6 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.3 points per game. As for Hardaway, their loss dropped their record down to 5-19.

Hardaway might still be hurting after the 70-50 defeat they got from Spencer when the teams last played last Monday. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Spencer's Kerry Griffin, who went 9 of 16 on his way to 21 points.
