Basketball Recap: Jacoby Gustin Key Part of Team Effort in Skyhawks Win

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Springville, Salem Hills was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Spanish Fork Dons by a score of 71-63. This was a revenge game for the Skyhawks: when they faced off against the Dons back in January, they had to take a 71-57 defeat.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Salem Hills to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jacoby Gustin, who went 9-for-13 en route to 18 points and seven boards. Salem Hills is 4-2 when Gustin posts 15 or more points, but 4-10 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Kade Moser, who dropped a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds.

Spanish Fork's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ben Clayson, who went 7-for-14 to rack up 20 points. Those 20 points gave Clayson a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Gage Christensen, who almost dropped a double-double with 16 points and nine boards.

Salem Hills' record now sits at 8-12. As for Spanish Fork, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-11.

Salem Hills has already played their next matchup, a 65-57 loss against Maple Mountain on the 7th. As for Spanish Fork, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 74-47 defeat against Springville on the 7th.
