Dynamic duo of Asa Fehrenbach and Jarquez Garrett lead Lafayette to victory

Recap: Lafayette Rams vs. Bruton Panthers

The Lafayette Rams entered their tilt with the Bruton Panthers with eight consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with nine. Lafayette came out on top against Bruton by a score of 76-69 on Friday. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.

Lafayette was led to victory by Asa Fehrenbach and Jarquez Garrett. Fehrenbach dropped a double-double on 18 points and 12 rebounds, while Garrett scored 28 points along with seven assists. Fehrenbach hasn't dropped below two steals for six straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Shamar Welsh, who scored 13 points.

Despite the defeat, Bruton saw an underclassman step up: Johnathan Hopkins scored 26 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Hopkins has scored all season. Khamani Phillips was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with seven rebounds.

Lafayette is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 18-3 record this season. As for Bruton, their defeat dropped their record down to 15-6.

Lafayette will look to defend their home court on Monday against New Kent at 7:00 p.m. Lafayette has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Bruton, they will head out on the road to face off against Warhill at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Bruton is coming into the contest with three straight defeats on the road, meaning Warhill will have to defend against a squad hungry for a win.
