Goldwater suffered their biggest loss since November 28, 2023 on Friday. They were dealt a 56-18 defeat at the hands of Peoria. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Goldwater in their matchups with Peoria: they've now lost eight in a row.
Meanwhile, Estrella Foothills pushed their score all the way to 60 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of Buckeye by a score of 62-60. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Estrella Foothills came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 26th, while Buckeye is ranked 102nd).
Goldwater bumped their record down to 3-8 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 16.0 points per game. As for Estrella Foothills, their loss dropped their record down to 18-3.
Goldwater was dealt a bruising 96-25 loss at the hands of Estrella Foothills in their previous matchup back in December of 2023. The contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Goldwater was down 96-25.
