Softball Recap: Paulding Starts off Right with Win over Continental

Paulding gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Saturday. They skirted past the Continental Pirates 7-5. The win continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Pirates: they've now won four in a row.

Tia Mendez made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off eight hits. Mendez was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.

In other batting news, Brooklynn Bakle was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.

Continental's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.

Paulding has already played their next match, an 11-0 loss against Bryan on the 1st. As for Continental, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 16-0 victory against Pandora-Gilboa on the 1st.
