Volleyball Recap: Woodland Cardinals vs. Meadow Heights Panthers

Woodland was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They fell just short of the Meadow Heights Panthers by a score of 3-2. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Cardinals of the 2-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture two weeks ago.

Woodland couldn't get the win, but they sure gave Meadow Heights a tough time in the first set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 29-31, 26-24, 16-25, 25-18, 15-9.

Despite the loss, Woodland saw an underclassman step up: Ella Cook had 19 digs.

Meadow Heights can attribute much of their success to Kale Cook, who had six digs and three aces.

Woodland now has a losing record at 8-9. As for Meadow Heights, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-6-3 record this season.

Coincidentally, both will both be playing Oak Ridge the next time they take the court. Meadow Heights will head out to face Oak Ridge at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, while Woodland will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
