Basketball Game Preview: High Point Wildcats vs. Wallkill Valley Rangers

High Point is 2-8 against Wallkill Valley since December of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The High Point Wildcats will challenge the Wallkill Valley Rangers at 7:00 p.m. Both teams are coming into the match red-hot, with High Point sitting on three straight wins and Wallkill Valley on four.

It was a proper cat-fight when High Point duked it out withHackettstown on Monday. High Point walked away with a 21-8 victory over Hackettstown.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Wallkill Valley). They blew past Lenape Valley 88-57 on Monday. Given the Rangers' advantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey basketball rankings (they are ranked 142nd, while the Patriots are ranked 365th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Wallkill Valley is also on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.8 points per game. As for High Point, their win bumped their record up to 6-4.

High Point couldn't quite finish off Wallkill Valley in their previous matchup on January 6th and fell 46-44. Can High Point avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
