Basketball Recap: Birdville Hawks vs. Denton Broncos
The Birdville Hawks lost to the Denton Broncos back in December of 2023, but the Birdville Hawks didn't allow the Denton Broncos the same satisfaction on Tuesday. Birdville managed a 50-44 victory over the Broncos. Given Birdville's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 143rd, while the Broncos are ranked 443rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Chase Thomas and Ethan Sheats certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Thomas scored 13 points along with eight rebounds and four steals, while Sheats dropped a double-double on ten points and 11 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacory Singh, who scored seven points.
Birdville's victory bumped their record up to 15-9. As for Denton, their defeat was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 12-18.
Birdville will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against the Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on January 26th. As for Denton, they have the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome the Raiders at 6:00 p.m. on January 26th. One thing working in Ryan's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three games.
