Basketball Recap: Midland Trail Comes Up Short

Midland Trail was the 63-43 winner over Sherman when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. The Midland Trail Patriots lost 68-45 to the Sherman Tide on Saturday. The Patriots have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the loss, Midland Trail still got an impressive performance from Payton Bailes, who posted 16 points and seven boards. Another player making a difference was Thad Brown, who earned 11 points and five rebounds.

Even though they lost, Midland Trail smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in four consecutive contests.

Midland Trail's loss dropped their record down to 10-8. As for Sherman, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-7.

Midland Trail has already played their next matchup, a 56-34 win against Liberty on the 18th. As for Sherman, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, an 85-47 victory against Hannan on the 17th.
