Baseball Recap: Righetti Snags Sixth Victory in Last Eight Games

The matchup between Righetti and Arroyo Grande on Friday hardly resembled the 1-0 effort from their previous meeting. The Warriors came out on top in a nail-biter against the Eagles, sneaking past 11-10. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Warriors' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

The team relied heavily on Blake Thayer, who went 4-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jacob McMillan, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Righetti lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Righetti is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-7 record this season. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 1.33 runs across that stretch. As for Arroyo Grande, their defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 9-11.

Looking ahead, Righetti will be taking part in a tournament against Central Catholic at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Raiders will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something the Warriors surely won't give up without a fight. As for Arroyo Grande, they will take on La Quinta in a tournament on Friday.
