R.W. Goines Stem Academy had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They blew past Universal Academy 77-52. Given R.W. Goines Stem Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 121st, while Universal Academy is ranked 403rd), the result on Friday wasn't entirely unexpected.
When it comes to explaining why Universal Academy lost, one person who can't be blamed is Cyrus Shaw. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 29 points and 12 rebounds. That was a full 55.8% of Universal Academy's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kamran Reese, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds.
R.W. Goines Stem Academy's victory bumped their record up to 18-11. As for Universal Academy, their defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 8-9.
R.W. Goines Stem Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Universal Academy also has no future games currently scheduled.
