Baseball Recap: Mansfield Triumphs

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Canton, Mansfield was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Franklin Panthers by a score of 9-5. This was payback for the Hornets, who suffered a 6-0 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Darrian Sanders was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched five innings while giving up three earned runs off six hits. Sanders was even better at the plate, going 4-for-5 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. He has become a key player for Mansfield: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 4-7-1 otherwise.

In other batting news, Jack Peabody was excellent, going 1-for-2 with three RBI. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Gavin Garnett, who went 1-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

Mansfield's record is now 9-7-1. As for Franklin, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 10-5.

Coming up, Mansfield will face off against Oliver Ames at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. As for Franklin, they will take on King Philip Regional at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
