Baseball Recap: Ellicott Takes a Loss

Florence hit Ellicott with a six-run fifth inning on Saturday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Thunderhawks came up short against the Huskies, falling 11-3. The Thunderhawks were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Huskies earlier this season, when they won 19-15.

Asher Sample and Marco Guerrero Mancilla did some serious damage despite the final result: Sample went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double, while Guerrero Mancilla went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

Ellicott's loss dropped their record down to 2-9-1. As for Florence, they moved to 6-4 with that victory, which also ended their four-game losing streak.

Ellicott has already played their next game, a 16-14 win against Mitchell on the 15th. As for Florence, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next match, an 18-8 defeat against Custer County on the 16th.
