Baseball Recap: Armstrong Takes a Loss

Armstrong fell victim to Westville and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They fell just short of the Tigers by a score of 1-0. The Trojans haven't had much luck with the Tigers recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

Armstrong saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Carter Freeman, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles.

Armstrong's defeat dropped their record down to 9-4. As for Westville, the win (which was their 12th in a row) raised their record to 16-1.

Armstrong and Westville should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings. The Trojans will square off against Georgetown-Ridge Farm/Chrisman at 4:30 p.m. on Monday with a big rank advantage (289 vs. 591). Meanwhile, Westville (ranked 135th) will meet Milford (ranked 426th) at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
