Recap: Harrisonburg Bulldogs vs. Rapides Mustangs
If the Harrisonburg Bulldogs were feeling good off their 74-51 takedown of the Grace Christian Warriors last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Harrisonburg was beaten by Rapides 68-13 on Friday. Harrisonburg was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 34-10.
Despite the defeat, Harrisonburg had strong showings from Colton Crum, who scored six points along with five rebounds, and Laine Dupuis, who scored two points along with five rebounds and two blocks. Dupuis has been hot recently, having posted two or more blocks the last five times he's played.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Harrisonburg struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Rapides racked up 16 assists.
Rapides' win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Christopher Newton, who scored ten points along with eight steals and seven rebounds. Another player making a difference was Antwon Jones, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds.
Harrisonburg's defeat dropped their record down to 10-10. As for Rapides, their win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-9.
Harrisonburg will head out on the road to challenge Monterey at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Rapides, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against Grant at 7:00 p.m. Grant is coming into the match on a five-game losing streak.
