Volleyball Recap: Dobbs Ferry Beats Valhalla for Their Third Straight Victory

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Dobbs Ferry had no problem doing just that on Wednesday. They had just enough and edged out the Valhalla Vikings 3-2. Winning may never get old, but the Eagles sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

The match was a true back-and-forth as no team won consecutive sets, but in the end it was Dobbs Ferry who won the one that mattered. The match finished with set scores of 25-22, 21-25, 25-20, 16-25, 15-12.

Dobbs Ferry got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Grace Demitrovic out in front who had nine digs, six kills, and four aces. What's more, Demitrovic racked up 24 assists, the most she's had since back in September. Taylor Denike was another key player, getting 13 kills, eight digs, and three aces.

They weren't the only good servers: Dobbs Ferry was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 11 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least 11 aces in four consecutive matches.

Dobbs Ferry's record now sits at 18-4. As for Valhalla, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-3 record this season.
