Football Recap: Clovis East Finds Home Field Redemption Against Lemoore

There's no place like home for Clovis East, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They walked away with a 30-19 victory over the Lemoore Tigers on Friday. The win continues a trend for the Timberwolves in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now won three in a row.

Jamie Spurgeon continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 127 yards and one TD on only 12 carries. Those 127 rushing yards gave him a new career-high.

Another reason for the win was Clovis East's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for nine sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Brandon Cervantez and Devin Woodard, who racked up five sacks between them. Cervantez also set a new season-high mark in total tackles with seven. Another thorn in Lemoore's side was Tristan Kircher, who picked up a sack, made 12 total tackles, and defended one pass.

Clovis East's record is now 4-1. As for Lemoore, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-4.

Clovis East and Lemoore will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next matchups. The next time the Timberwolves see the field they'll take on Clovis West at 7:00 p.m. on October 3. As for Lemoore, their break will end when they face Tulare Union at 7:30 p.m. on October 2.
