Softball Game Preview: Pacifica Tritons vs. Oxnard Yellowjackets

Pacifica hasn't had much luck against Oxnard recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Pacifica Tritons will hit the road for the first time this season to challenge the Oxnard Yellowjackets at 3:30 p.m. Oxnard took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Pacifica, who comes in off a win.

Last Saturday, Pacifica got the win against Santa Clara by a conclusive 14-4.

The team relied heavily on Dimyla Aupiu, who went 2-for-3 with five RBI, two runs, and one triple. Melissa Garcia also deserves some recognition as she stole her first stolen base of the season.

Pacifica always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .561. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Santa Clara only posted an OBP of .292.

Meanwhile, Oxnard's undefeated season came to an end after three games on Saturday. They took a 9-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of Camarillo. The loss was the Yellowjackets' first of the season.

Natalie Rodarte was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March of 2024.

Having lost for the first time this season, Oxnard fell to 3-1. As for Pacifica, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Pacifica has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.5 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Oxnard struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.

Pacifica suffered a grim 10-3 defeat to Oxnard in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can Pacifica avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
