The Tussey Mountain Titans will take on the Curwensville Golden Tide at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Tussey Mountain has four straight victories, Curwensville has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
On Friday, Tussey Mountain beat Clear Spring 21-14. The win was all the more spectacular given the Titans' disadvantage in MaxPreps' football rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 397th in Pennsylvania, while the Blazers are ranked 185th in Maryland).

Noah Lucko was his usual excellent self, rushing for 160 yards and two touchdowns. Tussey Mountain is undefeated when Lucko posts 100 or more rushing yards, but 0-3 otherwise.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Tussey Mountain was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 254 rushing yards. They are a perfect 5-0 when they've run for more than 200 yards.
Meanwhile, Curwensville lost to Glendale at home by a 34-20 margin on Friday. The Golden Tide were down 27-7 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.
Tussey Mountain will have to keep a close watch on Lincoln Hoyt and Sam Gustafson, a pair of players who had a big impact on Curwensville's prior game. Hoyt rushed for 107 yards and one TD, while Gustafson rushed for 103 yards and one score.
Curwensville's defeat dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Tussey Mountain, their victory bumped their record up to 6-3.
Friday's game might be decided on the ground. Tussey Mountain has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 193.4 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Curwensville struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 210.9 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's contest turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Tussey Mountain was able to grind out a solid win over Curwensville when the teams last played back in October of 2024, winning 23-14. Will the Titans repeat their success, or do the Golden Tide have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
