Basketball Game Preview: Midtown Knights vs. M.L. King Lions

The Midtown Knights will head out on the road to square off against the M.L. King Lions at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Midtown's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last ten games.

Last Tuesday, Midtown blew past Forest Park, posting a 63-11 win. The Knights have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 13 matches by 23 points or more this season.

Devin Bockman continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, going 9 for 14 en route to 26 points and four steals. Her evening made it five games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Hailey Wortmann, who posted ten points.

Midtown smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in three consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, M.L. King was beaten by Creekside 85-12 on Tuesday. The Lions have struggled against the Seminoles recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Midtown is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-3 record this season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 34.3 points. As for M.L. King, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-15.

Everything came up roses for Midtown against M.L. King when the teams last played back in December of 2024, as the squad secured an 84-8 victory. In that match, Midtown amassed a halftime lead of 49-3, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
