While Clayton might've come up empty on Tuesday, Izzy Tart wasn't going down without a fight. Tart made a splash, striking out 13 batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off eight hits (and only one walk). She was up against Fuquay - Varina and has quite the history against that squad, as she also had a great game the last time she faced them back in April of 2024. Tart has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in 12 consecutive appearances.

Looking ahead, Tart and Clayton will take on Corinth Holders at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Sadly, Tart's big day wasn't enough to stop the loss, which snapped the Comets' three-game streak of wins at home. With the streak broken, Tart and the Comets surely have a bit of extra motivation heading into Friday's match.
