Football Recap: Piqua Comes Up Short

If Piqua was riding high fresh off their 49-8 takedown of West Carrollton last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Indians came up short against the Xenia Buccaneers on Friday, falling 42-21. While losing is never fun, the Indians can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio football rankings (they are ranked 301st, while the Buccaneers are ranked 144th).

Piqua's defeat dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Xenia, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 5-1.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Piqua is set to face off against their familiar foe Fairborn at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Xenia will square off against rival Tippecanoe at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Buccaneers 12.7, the Red Devils 3.3) so any points scored will be well earned.
