Football Recap: Savannah Starts Season with Win Against Pleasant Hill

Savannah had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They enjoyed a cozy 41-24 victory over the Pleasant Hill Roosters/Chicks on Friday. This was payback for the Savages, who suffered a 14-12 loss the last time these two teams met.

Savannah found their leader in sophomore Caylor Schrick, who rushed for 221 yards and four scores while picking up 10.5 yards per carry. Schrick also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, making six total tackles and defending three passes in addition to snagging an interception.

Savannah was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 332 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in September of 2024.

Savannah didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Schrick and Eli Bodenhausen.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Savannah will look to takes advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they takes on East Buchanan at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Pleasant Hill, they will host Maryville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
