Softball Game Preview: James F. Byrnes Rebels vs. Eastside Eagles

The James F. Byrnes Rebels will head out on the road to challenge the Eastside Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (James F. Byrnes has three straight victories, Eastside has four straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

James F. Byrnes is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past Wade Hampton 25-1 on Tuesday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Rebels with their most commanding win of the season.

Meanwhile, Eastside came up short against Riverside on Monday, falling 22-1.

Eastside saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Olivia Hitch, who scored a run while going 1-for-3. Avery Powell also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

James F. Byrnes' win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 21.0 runs over those games. As for Eastside, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-7-2.
