Basketball Game Preview: Ygnacio Valley Wolves vs. Alhambra Bulldogs

Ygnacio Valley hasn't had much luck against Alhambra recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. Both will meet in a dog eat dog contest at 7:30 p.m. One thing working in Ygnacio Valley's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last six games.

Ygnacio Valley is headed into the contest after thoroughly thrashing College Park: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Ygnacio Valley blew College Park out of the water with an 85-58 final score. Given the Wolves' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 110th, while the Falcons are ranked 278th), the result on Tuesday wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Alhambra made easy work of Mt. Diablo on Tuesday and carried off a 72-51 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Bulldogs.

Ygnacio Valley has also been performing well recently as they've won 12 of their last 16 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 16-8 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.8 points per game. As for Alhambra, their victory bumped their record up to 11-13.

Everything came up roses for Ygnacio Valley against Alhambra when the teams last played back in January of 2024, as the team secured an 89-56 win. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Alhambra's Geo Alber, who went 9 of 16 en route to 20 points along with seven boards and five assists. Now that he won't be playing on Thursday, will it be easier for Ygnacio Valley to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
