Baseball Recap: Houston County's Win Ends Six-Game Losing Streak on the Road

Houston County took a six-run defeat the last time they faced off against Northwest, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Houston County Fighting Irish narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Northwest Vikings 7-6. This was payback for the Fighting Irish, who suffered a 15-9 loss the last time these two teams met.

Houston County saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ryder Forrester, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Forrester is becoming a predictor of Houston County's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 2-1 (and 0-4 when he doesn't). Brody Powell also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Houston County's victory ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-5. As for Northwest, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-8.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Houston County will host Hickman County at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Northwest, they will welcome East Robertson at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
