Monte Vista is on a four-game streak of home wins, while Limon is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Pirates will square off against the Badgers at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Monte Vista is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. Their defense stepped up to hand Colorado Springs Christian a 21-0 shutout.

Monte Vista got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Judah Howe out in front who rushed for 131 yards and one touchdown. Those 131 rushing yards gave Howe a new career-high. Domyon Naranjo made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Monte Vista was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 279 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 158 rushing yards in seven consecutive contests.
Monte Vista didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Naranjo and Azariah Hurtado. Naranjo got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Limon blew past Flatirons Academy, posting a 44-16 victory. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Badgers' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado football rankings (they are ranked 33rd, while the Bison are ranked 130th).
Limon's win came from a few key players Monte Vista will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Jacob Jaklich, who rushed for 120 yards and four scores on only ten carries. The team also got some help courtesy of Camdyn Tacha, who rushed for 90 yards and a pair of TDs on only eight carries.
Monte Vista's record now sits at 7-3. As for Limon, their record is now 9-1.
Saturday's matchup might be decided on the ground. Monte Vista has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 187.3 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Limon struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 251.9 rushing yards. There's a good chance Saturday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Monte Vista was taken down by Limon 50-20 when the teams last played back in November of 2022. Thankfully for the Pirates, Lohgan Bottjer (who rushed for 143 yards and four touchdowns on only nine carries) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
