After losing to Old Fort the last time they met, Calvert decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Senecas blew past the Stockaders 15-1 on Monday. The result was nothing new for the Senecas, who have now won nine contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Addison King made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out seven over 6.2 innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with one double and one RBI.
In other batting news, Ava Eilrich was incredible, getting on base in five of her six plate appearances with five stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Another player making a difference was Alyssa Rishty, who went 1-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.
Calvert always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .535. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Old Fort only posted an OBP of .200.
Calvert is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.1 runs over those games. As for Old Fort, they dropped their record down to 1-10 with the defeat, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season.
Coming up, Calvert will welcome Liberty-Benton at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Senecas' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Eagles have averaged an impressive 9.1 runs per game this season. As for Old Fort, they will challenge St. Joseph Central Catholic at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
