Basketball Game Preview: Box Elder Bees vs. Roy Royals

The Box Elder Bees will challenge the Roy Royals at 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with six consecutive losses for Box Elder and three for Roy.

Last Friday, Box Elder lost to Clearfield on the road by a 52-33 margin. The Bees were down 46-26 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Despite their defeat, Box Elder saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Brooklyn Burt, who posted ten points, was perhaps the best of all. Burt continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma Nelson, who earned eight points in addition to eight rebounds and three steals.

Meanwhile, Roy played a tough game on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They had to suffer through a 59-23 loss at the hands of Bountiful. The match marked the Royals' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Like Roy, they lost despite seeing results from several players. Jerzee Hart led the charge by putting up four points along with seven boards and four blocks. Rihanna May was another key player, scoring seven points.

Box Elder's loss dropped their record down to 1-14. As for Roy, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-10.

Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Box Elder has been crashing the rebounds this season, having averaged 24.7 boards per game. However, it's not like Roy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 31.3 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.

Box Elder barely slipped by Roy in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, winning 45-44. Will Box Elder repeat their success, or does Roy have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
