Basketball Recap: Williston's Win on Saturday Extends Winning Streak to Five

Williston had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 26.3 points) and they went ahead and made it five on Saturday. They secured a 56-50 W over the Providence School Stallions.

Taylor Powers had a dynamite game for Williston, going 5 of 8 on her way to 19 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kierce Solomon, who posted 12 points.

Williston smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in nine consecutive matches.

Despite the loss, Providence School still got an impressive performance from Janie Boyd, who went 8 for 13 en route to 21 points along with seven boards and six steals. Boyd's afternoon made it four games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Kasey Davey was another key player, putting up 12 points and seven rebounds.

Williston has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-2 record this season. As for Providence School, with the defeat, they broke their five-game winning streak and moved their record to 13-6.

Williston will welcome Tampa Catholic at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Providence School has already played their next game, a 69-40 win against Nease on the 20th.
