Baseball Recap: Nazareth Area Blue Eagles vs. Parkland Trojans

Nazareth Area and Parkland squared off in some playoff action on Sunday, but Nazareth Area had to settle for second. They lost 15-6 to the Parkland Trojans. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Nazareth Area of the 7-6 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2023.

Aidan Butz made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-3. Another player making a difference was Caden Mills, who scored a run while going 1-for-4.

Even though they lost, Nazareth Area hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. This was only their first loss (out of six games) when they post two or more strikeouts.

On Parkland's side, Mack Parsell was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Parsell has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive pitching appearances. Parsell was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

Nazareth Area's loss dropped their record down to 18-6. As for Parkland, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 17-6 record this season.
